| Description | A highly sensitive biomarker for the production of Aβ 1-42 derived from the βAPP-like protein APLP1. The peptide is generated by the same proteolytic mechanism as Aβ42. Non-amyloidogenic APL1β28 can be detected in the CSF and its levels correlate with Aβ42 production. Its ratio to total APL1β (APL1β25, APL1β27, and APL1β28) is significantly increased in familial and sporadic cases of AD. |
