The adrenomedullin fragment has vasodilator activity. It has been proposed to modulate receptor-mediated rather than voltage-dependent pulmonary vasoconstriction by affecting Ca 2+ influx. Therefore, hADM (13-52) has been proposed as an endothelium-dependent vasodilator in the pulmonary vascular bed of rats. In addition, the compound can act as a modulator of the inflammatory vascular stage.
