After nutrient intake, GLP-1 and Oxyntomodulin (OXM) are both processed by proglucagon and secreted by polydine-1 cells in the intestine. Oxyntomodulin (OXM) is a 37-amino acid peptide hormone that can cause weight loss in humans and rodents. It activates the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP1R) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR). Its sequence is the same as glucagon (1-29), but with an extra KRNKNNIA c-terminal sequence.
