The GluR23Y peptide is used for ELISA cell surface analysis and used for the endocytosis of natural AMPA receptors in cultured hippocampal neurons stimulated by insulin. GluR23Y prevented any insulin-induced reduction. By fusing the GluR23Y peptide into the membrane transduction domain of HIV-1 and delivering it to neurons, blockade of insulin action can be observed.
