| Description | This sequence is a 1 to 21 amino acid fragment of histone 4. Histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p300/CBP catalyzes the acetylation of free histone H4 at the N-terminus of Lys5, 8, 12, and 16. It is believed that acetylation in H8 is the first choice. The determinant of the interaction between p300 and histone 4 seems to be entirely in the N-terminal region of the H4-21 protein. |
