The peptide is the amino acid 17-26 fragment of p53. The mdm-2 binding domain of p53 is also called p53n. The sequence contains all the residues that are in contact with the binding domain of mdm-2. Tumor suppressor protein p53 plays an important role in maintaining genomic stability and preventing cancer development.
