Procollagen Type I (212-216)
Subfragments of the carboxy-terminal propeptide of type I collagen (residues 191-241) have been shown to stimulate the biosynthesis of extracellular matrix in fibroblasts. It has been found that the pentapeptide KTTKS is the minimum sequence required to effectively stimulate the production of collagen and fibronectin in a variety of mesenchymal cells.
