Omission of residues 1 to 9 from the full-length Alzheimer's b-Amyloid peptide 1 to 40 does not prevent the peptide from forming amyloid fibrils or eliminate fibril polymorphism. This b-Amyloid peptide fragment contains a functional B cell epitope, but lacks known T cell epitopes, which makes it an attractive candidate for the development of b-Amyloid vaccine that lacks the potential to induce autoimmune encephalitis. |
